Draw the doors as well as the fittings
On a rough plan, mark how the main door, shower door and drawers open. An arrangement can fit on paper and still be awkward when two things are open at once. Check the approach to the basin and toilet rather than measuring only the footprint of each product. Ask the installer to verify clearances for the selected items.
Make storage specific
Count what actually lives in the bathroom. A shallow cabinet for daily toiletries may be more helpful than a bulky unit with awkward shelves. Consider where towels dry and where cleaning products can be kept appropriately. A wall-hung vanity can reveal more floor, but its storage and installation requirements still need checking.

Choose the shower around access
A different screen or door arrangement may improve the room more than a larger tray. Think about stepping in, reaching controls and cleaning the glass. A bath-to-shower change can be worth exploring, but waste position and floor construction matter. Do not assume every low tray can be fitted flush with the floor.
Use a calm palette with a purpose
Limiting the number of finishes can reduce visual clutter. It does not mean everything must be white. Warm timber tones, a single stronger colour or a textured surface can work well if the rest of the room is quieter. Look at large samples so you understand the pattern and the way joints will fall.
Check the maintenance space
Leave a practical way to reach shut-off valves, traps and concealed fittings. A tightly packed room is harder to maintain if everything has been boxed in without access. Bring these questions into the design conversation before ordering furniture or agreeing a finished layout.
